It means the total amount paid by shareholders against the shares allotted to them against the called-up capital. It is equal to the called-up capital minus calls unpaid or in arrears. For example:- a company allotted 1000 shares of 10 rupees each to some applicants and the company asked to pay 10000 rupees but the applicant paid only 7000 thousand rupees. In this case the paid-up capital will be 7000 rupees only against the called-up capital of 10000 rupees.
