1. Maximum exemption limit increased from 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh for resident individuals below 60 years
  2. Maximum exemption limit increased from 2.5 lakh to 3.0 lakh for resident senior citizen who is of 60 years or more but below the age of 80 years at any time during the previous year.
  3. There is no change in case of resident very senior citizen who is of the age of 80 years or more at any time during the previous year.
  4. Ceiling limit for deposit in public provident fund is being increased from 1 lakh to 1.50 lakh.
  5. Investment under section 80-C is increased from 1 lakh to 1.50 lakh.
  6. Deduction for interest on housing loan on self occupied house is increased from 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh..
  7. Income of funds from portfolio investments shall be deemed as capital gain.
